About Lake Hartwell
Lake Hartwell on the Savannah River is shared by Georgia and South Carolina, built and run by the Corps' Savannah District with a 660 ft full pool. It is the upstream anchor of the Savannah chain above Russell and Thurmond, and the Corps balances all three, so Hartwell often sits a few feet low in late summer by design.
